IPL franchises to retain a maximum of five players using the combination of Pre-match Retention and Right to match cards (RTM). The RTM option permits the team owners to retain their players by matching their listed auction price.

The following is the retention rules:

A: Maximum of 3 players pre-auction + 2 Right To Match
B: Maximum of 3 Indians + 2 Foreigners

With Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals returning to the fold, the GC announced that:

“The player pool available for CSK and RR for retention/RTM will be the players’ who played for them respectively in IPL 2015 and who were part of RPS and GL squads in IPL 2017.”

Dhoni will certainly return to his own den, Chennai based on this rule. This is also going to be a good headache for the team franchises considering too many good names to retain.

Good news for the viewers is that they can play along with the players in the crickingduels fantasy game!
