Australia’s bad run in the limited-overs continues and to make things worse, their ranking tumbled to number six in the ranking for the first time since 1984.

The team’s last ODI series win came in January 2017 where they defeated Pakistan at home. Thereafter, they have lost 13 of their 15 completed ODIs, in which time they have lost three successive bilateral series – to New Zealand, India and England – and exited the Champions Trophy at the group stage.

The once powerful team lost David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft due to the ball tampering incident that shocked the world in March. After that, the team is going through a bad phase. Taking on England today, they keenly will look to win today not only to keep the series alive but also to rise from the number six spot.
