Before the start of the tournament, defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad probably had the best squad when compared to the other seven teams. With the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi joining the team, they became even more potent. But after playing 14 matches, they would be little disappointed with their performance. They ended up at third place despite David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar being the highest run-getter and wicket-taker respectively in the league. There can’t be any excuses today when they they face Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator. A lot of it is depending on the striking ability of Warner and Shikhar Dhawan along with the the performance of Rashid Khan and Bhuvi. With some injury concern to Yuvraj Singh, their job has become a lot tougher.

Out of their last five matches, Kolkata Knight Riders could win only one. At the business end of the league stage, their form dipped and they ended up at fourth. Gautam Gambhir would hope that his team change the momentum today. Chris Woakes will miss the rest of the matches due to national commitment so replacing him would be a tough task. Nathna Coulter-Nile is also unlikely to play due to injury. But Kolkata have been in similar situations in the past. They performed when it mattered the most and with some good start to the match, they can change things around.
