Over 20 Chennai Super Kings 193/5/No

Done for today. We witnessed a couple of high scoring games and Rajasthan and Punjab emerged victorious. Kolkata and Delhi will be in action on Monday at 2000 IST. Looking forward to your company then. Cheers!
Chris Gayle is chosen for the Man of the Match award. His scintillating knock shell-shocked Chennai at the beginning as he went hammer and tongs from the word go. A knock studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes was a real treat for the cricket lovers. He is back. The Universe Boss is back.
One should avoid talking about the performance of the bowlers when close to 400 runs are hit in a match. But, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Ravichandran Ashwin were exceptional with the ball when the rest were taking a pasting. The fielding was also up to the mark and altogether a good team performance to earn a win. Earlier, their batsmen set up the game nicely for them by posting a big total but could have done even better with their finishing.
At one moment, it felt like Punjab will complete an easy win but then, the duo of Dhoni and Jadeja started to counterattack. Their 28-ball 50 stand took the chase deep and after that Dhoni took things under his control. He hammered 28 runs off 9 balls in the 30-run unbeaten partnership with Bravo and nearly stole victory from the jaws of defeat.
Chasing a big target, Chennai needed to start big. But that didn't happen. They lost both their openers cheaply and then the hero of the last match, Sam Billings also departed without much contributions. With the back to the wall, MS Dhoni joined Ravindra Jadeja in the middle and together the pair tried to bring the chase back on track with a 57-run stand. Although, it didn't come at a rate which was needed.
Phew! Another cracking contest which went right down to the wire. It was a vintage stuff from MS Dhoni as the Captain Cool nearly took his team over the line. What entertainment! The crowd here got its money's worth. Great scenes out there. The players are exchanging pleasantries. Punjab will be feeling really lucky that they had just enough on the board. Yet another team has successfully defended the total. Chennai after braving in the last two games, have fallen short of the target today.
19.6
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, SIX! Biggie to finish but it is not enough! Mohit does bowl a legal ball and lands it full on middle. It is right in the zone for Dhoni who deposits it over the sightscreen for a maximum. PUNJAB WIN BY 4 RUNS!
19.5
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, No, he can't! Mohit has more or less sealed it, unless he bowls an extra. Another full ball outside off, Dhoni squeezes it through point. There is a fielder in the deep and it goes towards him as he makes a tumbling stop. Dhoni does not run.
19.4
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, Dot! This is very full outside off, Dhoni can't squeeze it out and the umpire feels it is inside the tramline. 11 from two. He did hit two sixes off the last two balls to win a game against Punjab a few years back. But then the bowler was Axar Patel. Can MS do it against Mohit Sharma, his ex-teammate?
19.3
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, FOUR! This will also do! Top shot from the Captain Marvellous. Very full and wide outside off, not a bad delivery. Dhoni opens the face off the bat and guides it through backward point and the ball races away.
19.3
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, WIDE! Pressure getting to Sharma here. He bowls this one wide, very wide and the umpire stretches his arms. 15 from 4.
19.2
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, Excellent delivery more importantly a dot! A wide yorker. Dhoni goes after it but misses. 16 in 4.
19.1
M Sharma to D Bravo, Very full and on the pads, Bravo flicks it through square leg and the batsmen cross over for a run. Dhoni on strike, 16 from 5. He has done it in the past, not once but many times. Can he do it again?

Over 19 Chennai Super Kings 181/5/No

18.6
A Tye to MS Dhoni, SIX.
18.5
A Tye to MS Dhoni, A double now! 23 needed from 7. A low full toss outside off, Dhoni mistimes it towards covers for a couple.
18.4
A Tye to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Using his brain here is Dhoni! Sees the ball is short, picks his spot and upper cuts it over the short third man fielder for a boundary. 25 needed from 8.
18.3
A Tye to MS Dhoni, SIX! Bang! What a sound did that make off the bat! Length ball on off, Dhoni swings hard and he gets it over the mid-wicket fence for a huge one.
18.2
A Tye to R Jadeja, OUT! Jadeja holes out! He had to go for it. Tye bowls a full ball on off, Ravindra tries to go big but only manages to hit it up in the air towards covers. The skipper, Ashwin there settles under it and takes it. The cameo from Jadeja comes to an end 35 from 10 needed.
18.1
A Tye to MS Dhoni, Dhoni gets it in his arc. Full and on off, he however hits it towards long on for a run.

17.6
M Sharma to R Jadeja, SIX.
17.5
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, This one was bowled wide outside off, clever by Sharma. Dhoni reaches out to it and gets it off the toe end off the bat towards mid off for a run. It brings up his fifty, his 3rd in the Indian T20 League. But can he finish it off?
17.4
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, SIX! There is one off them! This is HUGEEE! Full and on middle, Dhoni lines it up and sends it sailing over the long on fence. 2 balls to go they need more. 43 from 14.
17.3
M Sharma to R Jadeja, Slower ball outside off, Jadeja gets it off the inner half towards long off for a run. Singles won't do here. They need some biggies.
17.2
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, Full and on middle, Dhoni hits it towards long off for a run.
17.1
M Sharma to MS Dhoni, DROPPED AND FOUR! That has been misjudged! A full toss on middle, Dhoni flicks it towards mid-wicket. Mayank Dagar the substitute in the deep seems to have misjudged it and at the very last moment dives forward to take it but the ball just brushes his fingers and goes into the ropes. A boundary early in the over, can this be the big one Chennai need?

Over 17 Chennai Super Kings 143/4/No

16.5
A Tye to MS Dhoni, Punjab will be happy conceding this single as Dhoni powers it towards long off for a run.
16.4
A Tye to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Just short! Vintage Dhoni there. That was hit with brute force. He comes down the track and gets a ball outside off. He slaps it over extra cover and the ball races away. They need to finish this over well here.
16.4
A Tye to MS Dhoni, This one was short and wide outside off, Dhoni lets it be and the ball is called a wide.
16.3
A Tye to R Jadeja, Comes down the track and pull it towards fine leg for a run. Just 2 from the first three balls.

16.1
A Tye to MS Dhoni, Excellent slower one, dot to start. Full and outside off, Dhoni tries to drive it through the off side but gets beaten.

B Sran to R Jadeja, Drills it through covers and crosses for a couple of times. The throw comes to the bowler's end, it could have been tight but Sran slips while getting back and Dhoni reaches safely.
15.5
B Sran to R Jadeja, Plays a length ball down to point and looks for a run. Dhoni sends him back and Yuvraj misses his shy at the striker's end.
