Two teams with identical points do battle against each other tomorrow in the Indian Premier League. A day after recording their third straight victory, the Mumbai Indians will be back in action again- this time against the Delhi Daredevils at the Wankhede Stadium. After starting the season slowly, the Mumbai Indians have bounced back admirably and a win tomorrow, with other results going favorably, could see them rise as high as number three on the points table.
The Mumbai Indians finally seem to have a settled team. Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons have formed a very good opening pair and the middle order looks settled with Chand, Rohit Sharma, Pollard and Rayudu. So good has the Mumbai Indians form been that they have not missed Corey Anderson, who has not featured in their last few games. The bowling looks stronger, particularly with Lasith Malinga and Mitchel McClenaghan forming a good partnership at the start and end of the innings. Harbhajan Singh has been consistent and Jagadeesha Suchith has bowled well enough to warrant a place ahead of Pragyan Ojha in the starting XI. No change is likely to be made by the Mumbai Indians to the XI which played the last game against Kings XI Punjab.
Delhi Daredevils are coming off a loss against the Rajasthan Royals. They too started slowly like the Mumbai Indians and the loss in the last game notwithstanding, they too have recovered well in the competition. A win tomorrow will also propel them up the table though the performance against the Royals will be a concern. The Daredevils had dropped Imran Tahir from their last game but he should be back in the XI probably in place of Gurinder Sandhu, who could not make much of an impression in his debut IPL game. Daredevils will also rely on the experienced Zaheer Khan and Amit Mishra to contain the Mumbai batting line up. The Daredevils batting has been too reliant on JP Duminy and it is about time that the big names in the Daredevils camp i.e Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews make a significant contribution. Albie Morkel started the tournament with a very good knock against the Chennai Super Kings but strangely has not been considered since and the Daredevils might consider playing him tomorrow.
It is a pivotal game at a crucial juncture of the tournament. Mumbai Indians just appear slightly more confident than Delhi Daredevils and it will be brave man who will bet against a 4th win on the trot for them.
