It was an awesome year of cricket and the following are few historic moments to cherish!

Hope drove Windies to Victory:

Windies were trashed in the first Test by plainly superior England team. Who would have expected Hope’s twin tons to defeat England in the second Test match?
This is their first Test win against England since 2000.

Cricket returned to Pakistan

Pakistan hosted the World XI team for three T20Is. World XI players were greeted with packed stands at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The home side took a 1-0 lead, lost the second match and knocked out the World side by 33 runs in the decider. The following month, the Sri Lankan team returned to the venue and played their series finale there.

Been a good year for Pakistan, both individually and as a team:

Bangladesh defeated Australia and New Zealand.

Bangladesh charted another upset when they defeated Australia by 20 runs in first of the two-match series. It was Bangladesh’s maiden win against Australia in Tests. The Aussies however, bounced back to draw the series.

With 33/4 to chase down New Zealand’s target of 267, the effort was extraordinary. Mahmudullah and Shakib shared an incredible partnership to take the team home ending the Kiwis’ hopes of making to the Semis at the Champions’ trophy.

Afghanistan defeats Windies:

The latest ICC Associate nation to get Test status clinched their maiden ODI win against a Test side other than Bangladesh and Zimbabwe when they defeated West Indies at Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. Rashid Khan played a pivotal role in his career-best figures of 18-7. The three-match series ended 1-1.

Moeen Ali’s hattrick and swift 100:

Smith and Kohli ruled the year:

This year also saw many wonderful knocks and achievements from the two modern day greats. Every single match they played they crossed at least a landmark. 2018 awaits for Kohli to see how he goes in away series and for Smith as well.

Ro hitman Sharma:

Big tons and Rohit does make a good pair. Almost every single year, he goes big, smashes records. This year is no different. He had his dream come true of captaining the Indian side, Scoring two staggering scores of 208* and the fastest T20I ton of 118.

Overall, its been a great home season for India with 37 wins out of 53 matches across all the format, the second most by any team. With the spin and swing duos doing good at the international level.
